Daniel (Dan) Raymond Norris
Aug. 19, 1928 - Aug. 16, 2012

He was a native of Birmingham, AL and a long time resident of the FT. Walton Beach, FL area.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann (Wall) Norris of Everett, WA, Two daughters, Terry Norris Ehart, and Jo Dan Norris, Gilleland (with husband Jerry) of Fayetteville, GA.  Also grandsons Andrew and Cody Gilleland, a brother Robert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan retired from the Untied States Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after serving his country for over 33 years earning many citations, some of which were:
The Soldiers Medal for heroism above and beyond the call of duty, The Bronze Star for meritorious service under combat conditions.  Korean Service medal with five battle stars and the Vietnam Service medal with three battle stars.
He received many other commendations over his long career including The Presidential Unit and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and as well as a Master Technical Instructor Rating.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 2nd at Prince of Peace Lutherian Church in Fayetteville, GA at 1:30 p.m.  A full military burial with honors will be held at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Ft. Walton Beach, FL on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00a.m.

Dan was a long time member of Clan Mackay Society of the USA and served as The National Vice President/Chief of Commissioners from 1998 to 2001, before retiring from that position due to health reasons. 
He was also an Alabama Commissioner, serving at Highland Games in Jasper, AL and assisting at games in Montgomery, AL as well as Culloden, GA, Stone Mt. GA, and Grandfather Mt. NC. 
During his tenure as National V.P, he was instrumental in the distribution and delivery of the newly issued Regional Games Boxes to each of the seven Mackay Areas in the U.S.A.
He will be missed by Mackays’ all over the United States and Scotland.
